Thanks to the incredible generosity of many like you during our fiscal year 2024 fundraising efforts at Lankenau Medical Center in the first year of Meet the Moment Campaign over $665,000 was donated for the President's Strategic Initiatives fund. Some of the key ways these gifts are having an impact are summarized below. These gifts are enhancing patient experience, comfort, technology and contributing to top tier healthcare.

Patrick Ross

$40,000 | Intuitive Hub for robotic surgery

The Intuitive Hub media manager under the direction of Dr. Patrick Ross, thoracic surgeon, is a visual media platform that allows surgeons to record procedures and store media for collaboration and learning. Your support allows the capture and management of videos, images, and audio with automation making it easier than ever to leverage visual data from patient cases. With this hub, physicians have video storage, efficient access, editing and reuse for medical education and peer consultation. This technology allows live stream of a surgery, using telepresence for real-time case observation and mentoring residents and fellows. Hub is vendor-agnostic, and its integration with the da Vinci surgical systems used at Lankenau Medical Center and Bryn Mawr Hospital allow our medical team to focus on patient care with capabilities that continue to drive the future of robotic surgery.

Cardiac surgery monitor screen

$168,454 | Medistim USA MiraQ Cardiac Ultimate Flowmeter with Imaging

Your generous donations provide the latest technology for the surgeon to immediately assess the blood flow within newly constructed bypass grafts to avert any complications. The MiraQ Cardiac Ultimate Flowmeter is a medical device used in heart surgery to help doctors measure blood flow in a patient’s blood vessels during surgery. Our cardiac surgeons use high-resolution ultrasound imaging probes allowing a complete assessment for the best possible outcomes. During surgery, our surgeons use this device to locate the coronary arteries, then verify the unobstructed state of the bypass graft. By giving real-time information, the flowmeter helps doctors quickly confirm that blood can flow freely to the heart muscle, allowing them to correct any issues and reduce the risk of complications after surgery.

Another invaluable feature is its ultrasonic epiaortic imaging capability, which may reveal disease in the aorta, thus leading to modifications of the surgical strategy, to prevent the risk of strokes.

Your generous donations provide the latest technology for the surgeon to immediately assess the blood flow within newly constructed bypass grafts to avert any complications.

Thank you for your generosity which is improving the quality of patient care.
