Bryn Mawr Hospital Gift Opportunities
Since its founding in 1893, Bryn Mawr Hospital has been sustained by the generosity of the community it serves. The hospital relies on the philanthropic partnership of its patients, family members and friends to fund programs and services that patient revenue alone cannot support. Below are available gift opportunities that will enhance the hospital’s clinical capabilities, patient experience initiatives, research efforts and educational programs. Multi-year commitments of $25,000 or more may be fulfilled over a period of up to five years.

Top fundraising priorities for FY26
Bryn Mawr Hospital outpatient site at Devon (80 West Lancaster Avenue, Devon)
$1,000,000+ goal
Main Line Health/Bryn Mawr Hospital is seizing a development opportunity to expand its footprint along the Route 30 corridor between Paoli Hospital and Bryn Mawr Hospital, an area currently without MLH assets despite being identified for strategic investment since 2019. A new ambulatory site will offer essential services including X-Ray, MRI, ultrasound, CT, physical therapy, labs, and primary care. This investment will significantly enhance patient navigation and accessibility, respond to growing demand for cardiac MRI imaging, address the instability of independent primary care practices in the region, and generate new revenue. Philanthropic support is necessary to provide critical capital for renovations and state-of-the-art medical equipment. The new Devon ambulatory site will allow Main Line Health/Bryn Mawr Hospital to deliver high-quality, accessible care in a modern, community-based setting, strengthening both its service to patients and its long-term sustainability.
Graduate medical education programs
$500,000+ goal
BMH proudly participates in educating the next generation of physicians through its own residency and fellowship programs as well as hosting residents and fellows from other organizations who rotate through BMH as part of their training experience. Receiving care at a teaching institution benefits patients by way of access to physicians who are at the top of their field, more innovative treatments, and additional oversight and rounding during care experiences. Graduates have frequently established their practices and built careers at BMH after their training. Some of our resident programs include psychiatry, family medicine, urology, podiatry, breast cancer and more. Philanthropic support of these programs helps fund advanced training and educational resources and enables hospitals to attract top talent and enhance program quality beyond what standard funding allows.
AngelEye camera system
$150,000 goal
At Bryn Mawr Hospital, we are committed to delivering the highest level of care for our tiniest and most vulnerable patients, and to supporting the families who love them. Philanthropic support is needed to fund AngelEye cameras for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which will allow parents and loved ones to securely view their baby in real time, 24/7, from anywhere. These cameras offer peace of mind during what is often a stressful and emotional time, help strengthen the critical parent-infant bond and promote family-centered care even when parents cannot be physically present. Your gift will bring comfort, connection, and reassurance to families when they need it most.
4D intracardiac echo
$400,000 one-time need
At the end of 2022, Bryn Mawr Hospital opened its new Interventional Procedure Suite. In this state-of-the-art facility, patients receive the latest treatments and diagnostic tests available through non-invasive technology. For many patients with cardiovascular, lung, and neurological issues, these new alternatives have made treatment without major surgery possible. Since becoming the first in Pennsylvania to offer the WATCHMAN™ device, our cardiovascular intervention team is emerging as a leader in advanced treatments for cardiovascular disease. Watchman was the first alternative to long-term warfarin used for those at risk of stroke and who have atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve problem. Because it closes off the left atrial appendage, an area of the heart that, due to improper functioning, produces the vast majority of stroke-inducing clots, the device has proven highly successful at stroke prevention. This is just one example of a minimally invasive procedure that is utilized by cardiologists at Bryn Mawr Hospital to provide state-of-the-art cardiovascular care. An intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) system or 4D echo is an advanced ultrasound test that enhances the precision and safety of complex cardiac procedures and uses high-quality 3D live moving images to visualize heart chambers. Bryn Mawr Hospital currently has one 4D echo; a donation of $400,000 would allow us to purchase an essential second system.
Oncology nurse navigators
$300,000 annual need
All Bryn Mawr Hospital patients are assigned a nurse navigator at no cost to our patients and families. Nurse navigators guide patients and families through the cancer continuum, acting as liaison, educator, and patient advocate, making the cancer care experience easier and less overwhelming. Navigators help coordinate appointments, tests, and procedures, and facilitate ongoing support for patients, whether newly diagnosed, in active treatment or receiving follow-up care. Some of the services that nurse navigators provide are non-billable, meaning that the hospital does not receive any reimbursement for this essential layer of support.
Strategic initiatives fund
$250,000+ annual need
Unrestricted gifts to Bryn Mawr Hospital are crucial because they offer the flexibility to address immediate and evolving needs. Unlike designated funds, which are tied to specific projects or programs, unrestricted donations can be allocated wherever they are most needed, whether it’s upgrading essential equipment, expanding facilities, enhancing patient care services, launching innovative health initiatives, supporting clinical research, or investing in staff development. Ultimately, unrestricted contributions ensure that Bryn Mawr Hospital has financial agility to maintain high standards of care and to continuously improve the services provided to the community.
Technology and equipment
$200,000+ annual need
Bryn Mawr Hospital is a hub for superior patient care and surgical excellence rivaling academic medical centers, strengthened by continued investment in technology and equipment. Advancements in treatment modalities, rapid growth in our patient volumes and expansion of our teaching programs all contribute in one way or another to the demand for new and additional technology. This past year especially, philanthropy has had a transformative effect on Bryn Mawr Hospital’s ability to purchase equipment that may have otherwise been deferred or denied due to a shortage of operational dollars. Purchases made possible entirely through charitable giving include a robotic surgical console for our urology and surgery residents to use, new high-tech 3D specimen breast imaging equipment, Labor and Delivery stretchers, NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and pediatric beds, milk warmers and resuscitation devices in the NICU, pediatric EEG equipment for neurological assessments, and more.
Lactation services
$150,000 annual need
Lactation services at Bryn Mawr Hospital provide essential support to new mothers, helping them navigate the challenges of breastfeeding and promoting the health and well-being of both mothers and infants. By offering expert guidance and education, Bryn Mawr Hospital strengthens community health and fosters a supportive environment for families during a critical stage of life. These services are offered by the hospital at no cost to our patients without any reimbursement; philanthropy is crucial to sustain these and other essential, non-revenue-generating services.
Human breast milk and milk-based fortifiers
$100,000+ annual need
Premature infants and those with medical complications often require specialized nutritional support to thrive. One crucial aspect of this support is the use of milk fortifiers, which are designed to increase the caloric and nutritional content of breast milk to better meet the needs of these infants. With the combination of breast milk and milk fortifiers, infants in the BMH NICU can receive the nutrients they need to grow stronger and healthier. Each year, Bryn Mawr Hospital purchases more than $100,000 of human milk-based fortifiers.
Clinical research and trials coordination
$100,000+ annual need
Many of today’s medical advances are the direct result of clinical studies and because of the diligent work of researchers. Clinical researchers and coordinators enroll BMH patients in clinical research trials, managing patients for the duration of their trial, ensuring adherence to protocols, following up with patients’ post-trial and performing data analysis. At any given time, we have about 100+ patients enrolled in cardiology and oncology clinical trials at BMH.
Dr. Sarang Mangalmurti was the first physician in the Philadelphia area to use a Shockwave IVL device in heart procedures in 2019.
Named endowment to support approved area of your choosing
$50,000 (minimum)+
Endowments supply funding in perpetuity to support programs and services that the Hospital will always need to provide. Subject to a conservative, Board-approved spending rule applied on the fund, endowments of $50,000 typically generate $2,000 in annual support.
Neonatal intensive care unit giraffe OmniBed carestations
$40,000 one-time needs (2)
Infants in our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit require specialized beds based on their age, size, acuity, and developmental progress. With rising patient volumes and our expanding partnership with CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia), BMH must invest in additional beds to meet diverse neonatal care needs. We are seeking to purchase two OmniBeds, each costing approximately $40,000, designed specifically for high-acuity NICU patients. These beds offer advanced features to support critically ill and developmentally fragile infants, including consistently controlled thermal environments, warmth during transport and improved patient access and visibility.
Vascular access ultrasounds
$35,000 one-time needs (3)
Ultrasound machines play a critical role in guiding healthcare providers during procedures such as central venous catheter insertions, peripheral intravenous access, lab specimen collection, and other interventions that require placement of needles or catheters. Ultrasounds are increasingly used to visualize blood vessels in real-time, allowing for better targeting of the needle and reducing complications. Ultrasounds help to identify location, size, and depth of the veins and are an essential addition to modern medical practice, emphasizing patient safety and procedural success.
Patient financial assistance
$25,000+ annual need
Assistance funds are used to support uninsured and underinsured patients access care, including screening and diagnostic imaging, anesthesia and other procedural services, prescription costs and transportation. Our care coordination teams work closely to identify inpatients whose socio-economic factors may prevent a safe and timely discharge and transition to outpatient care. Assistance funds have supported a myriad of patients from all walks of life including Ukrainian refugees, domestic violence victims, patients with no local support systems, and the homeless.
Bariatric program exercise equipment
$15,000 one-time need
At Bryn Mawr Hospital, our bariatric program is committed to breaking down barriers to wellness. Many of our patients can’t access a gym due to cost, transportation, or feeling unwelcome in traditional fitness spaces. We are bringing fitness within reach by providing practical tools like resistance bands, yoga mats, step trackers, and portion plate guides. These resources go beyond equipment — they offer confidence, empowerment, and a supportive path to stay engaged, build healthy habits, and ultimately reach their personal goals while leading to long-term health and wellness.
Music therapy
$15,000+ annual need
A certified music therapist plays the violin and guitar in hospital areas including surgical recovery, intensive care, patient rooms, family lounges and other public spaces. This complimentary service has been shown to reduce stress and enhance recovery.
Healing touch program
$15,000+ annual need
Therapeutic massages are provided at no cost to patients undergoing cancer treatment as part of the Hospital’s commitment to a holistic and integrative approach to care and a superior patient experience.
