Generous donor launches nursing student loan debt relief program

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, Bryn Mawr Hospital has launched a meaningful new program to honor the extraordinary nurses across the hospital and STAT nursing team. Recognizing the dedication required to pursue a nursing career, this initiative helps ease the burden of student loan debt for those who devote themselves to caring for others.

After reading a story in Main Line Health’s 2025 Donor Impact Report, "Stronger Together," about a similar $1,000,000 anonymous donation to Lankenau Medical Center Foundation and seeing news stories about another anonymous $1,000,000 donation to Paoli Hospital Foundation, the donor reached out to the Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation team and said: "I’m that donor for Bryn Mawr Hospital!"

When asked about their motivation, this generous and selfless donor shared that they had been thinking about this concept since the pandemic and about how to reward those who work so hard and care for others so deeply. They described this gift as "one of the greatest accomplishments of my life," adding, "I will get more joy out of this program than the recipients will."

A celebration event was held on March 17 where 174 nurses were informed that they will receive $300 per month or $3,600 total beginning in May. By investing in our nurses’ financial well-being, this program reinforces our commitment to supporting them not only in their professional roles but also in their lives beyond the hospital.
