Honoring Brain Injury Awareness Month
In March, we recognized Brain Injury Awareness Month by uplifting the voices and experiences of patients in Bryn Mawr Rehab’s Brain Injury Unit.
To mark the occasion, patients participated in a meaningful and creative project that invited them to reflect on how they see themselves compared to how they believe others perceive them. Each participant selected colors and emotions to represent their perceived self and their actual self, creating a powerful visual display of their personal journey.
The result is a moving collection that speaks to the individuality and complexity of life after brain injury. While recovery often focuses on physical progress, this project reminds us of the deeply personal and emotional aspects of healing that are just as important.
We continue to be inspired by the strength, honesty, and resilience of our patients. Their willingness to share their stories helps foster understanding and compassion while breaking down misconceptions surrounding brain injury.
