For many families, a labor and delivery experience is their first exposure to advanced inpatient medicine. It is important that Lankenau Medical Center exceeds expectations on all fronts! Medical protocols and the needs of families-to-be have evolved considerably over the past two decades. Our labor and delivery rooms will need to reflect today's high-quality standards and include enhanced medical capabilities and special touches such as upgraded technology that can make such a difference in a hospital stay.

Many generations of families in our community began life at Lankenau Medical Center. We are committed to future generations who expect the most advanced, compassionate healthcare close to home for the entire family.

We are seeking to refresh:
- All 10 labor and delivery rooms and their adjoining bathrooms
- Labor and delivery staff support station
- Every public-facing area, including the labor and delivery corridor, C-section corridor, elevator lobby and waiting areas
- Resident resource room and teaching lounge
We also aim to reconfigure space to create a recovery area close to the C-section operating rooms. With input from our physicians, staff, patients and architecture team, the refurbishment will include all-new elements such as: flooring, wall finishes, millwork, fixtures, furniture, window treatments and ceiling tiles. It will also include key ancillary items such as thermostats, lighting fixtures and lighting controls. Upgraded technology and materials will allow our multidisciplinary care team to serve patients and families more efficiently.
