Paoli Hospital's Auxiliary offers hope with Tree of Lights

Across cultures and faiths, light has been a symbol of hope for centuries, especially in the darker and colder winter months. Here at Paoli Hospital, we are grateful to our Auxiliary volunteers who once again have decked our halls and illuminated our Tree of Lights to help celebrate the season. With gifts made to Paoli Hospital in memory of loved ones or as tribute to caregivers, the Tree of Lights serves as a warm remembrance of our loved ones’ strength and our  healers’ care. The tree lighting took place on December 7th with a ceremony and celebration pictured here. Thank you to our Auxiliary and our Tree of Lights supporters for your unwavering commitment to Paoli Hospital and for your bright and shining example of leadership and service.

Paoli Hospital

Paoli Hospital Trauma Program continues to show exceptional outcomes

Paoli Hospital has long been recognized by leading healthcare organizations for excellence in patient care and experience. Adding to Paoli’s impressive list of accolades is the most recent report from the American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) showing Paoli Hospital as the #1 Trauma Center for risk adjusted mortality out of 537 trauma facilities across the country. This special recognition is based on data from 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, and while our position can change in future reports, Paoli Hospital has consistently been in the top percentile ever since we started submitting data to this group in 2016. Impressively, Paoli had high marks in its treatment of all patients, but especially our elderly population.

As our aging population grows, this recognition demonstrates that as the only Trauma Center in Chester County we are well-suited to serve the needs of our elderly population with the best possible care. Our success is dependent on our highly skilled medical professionals, our incredible staff across the hospital and our loyal supporters. We sincerely thank you for being a critical part of our team. As a not-for-profit hospital, it’s only with your trust and continued investment that we can achieve best-in-class recognition.

Thank you

“With heartfelt appreciation to you and to your amazing staff - my sincere thanks!”

One of the highlights of Paoli Hospital President Jim Paradis’s job is to receive letters of thanks from grateful patients. During this season of gratitude, we wanted to share an excerpt of kind words that serves as a reminder of the importance of our work together this past year and to renew our spirits for the year ahead.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you to each and every one of your staff! The past three years have been beyond challenging, but especially for hospital employees at all levels from housekeeping to food workers, to technicians and doctors/nurses and aids, as well as your volunteers who have hung in there with everyone else. All bringing much comfort and care to anyone coming through your doors. You are all heroes! I do not have the adequate words to express my gratitude for healthcare workers. It seems that a simple thank you is not enough.”

2023 Willens Memorial Scholarship honorees announced

Paoli Hospital has a great tradition of honoring employees and recognizing the many meaningful contributions they make every day. This last quarter, we were proud to announce this year’s recipients of the Willens Memorial Scholarship.

The 2023 Willens Memorial Scholarship is made possible by Joyce Lansom-Scribner whose husband John Willens, MD passed away in 1996. To honor his legacy, she and her husband, Brad, endowed a fund to provide scholarships in perpetuity, allowing recipients to further their education in fields ranging from nursing to nutrition to healthcare management. This year’s eight recipients are Paige Appleby (ICU), Holly Coia (ED), Shaivya Choudhary (Pharmacy), Ramneek Kaur (Pharmacy), Lourdes Evelyn Morales Omana (3 Main), Rachel Nehila (Food Service/Nutrition), Mikayla Niness (4B) and Elaine Rogers (4B).

Congratulations to all!

Aramark Collaboration Award

The 2023 Hispanic/Latinx ERG and Aramark award goes to… Main Line Health!

One of Main Line Health and Paoli Hospital’s core values is to foster an environment of diversity, respect, equity and inclusion. To help achieve this, the system debuted Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) in March of 2022. ERGs bring individuals with shared experiences, interests and goals together to create superior experiences for employees and patients.

We are proud to announce that Main Line Health’s Hispanic/Latinx ERG was recently recognized by Aramark Healthcare+ and its IMPACTO ERG with its Collaboration award. When asked why Main Line Health was deserving of the award, Juan De Jesus, District Manager for Aramark Healthcare+ said Main Line Health allows him to participate on ERG calls and has welcomed Aramark’s ideas at various forums and events. He added that “working together to achieve a common goal is always worth the acknowledgement.”

Recognition from a respected community partner such as Aramark is a strong indicator that we are living our values and ensuring the most welcoming and inclusive experience we can for our employees and patients.
