Through charitable funding and grants, the Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital Foundation was able to convert 1600 square feet of hospital space into a new outpatient gym focused on treating our spine and orthopedic therapy patients.

Our robust outpatient rehabilitation program provided 120,145 outpatient therapy visits in Fiscal Year 2023 to patients base across the Greater Philadelphia region and beyond. 39% of our physical therapy outpatient visits were focused on spine and orthopedic therapy.

In recent years, orthopedic and spine outpatient therapy had experienced longer wait times and increased patient demand for services at the hospital. Therapy staff were hired to alleviate these demands, but the location reached a point where no additional staff could be hired, and no additional patients could be seen due to space constraints in the main gym.

By converting former underutilized conference room space into the new outpatient therapy gym, 5 therapists can now treat at one time without space constraints, adding an estimated 4,680 additional patient therapy visits per year. In addition, the new equipment purchased for the space has enhanced the treatment options for our therapists and patients, ultimately enhancing each patient’s experience and potential outcomes. These benefits will allow Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital to scale our potential and sustain our success into the future.
