Lankenau Medical Center Women's Board Events
Tree of Life
A large evergreen tree on the grounds of Lankenau Medical Center is decorated with hundreds of lights and illuminated from early December to early January for the community to enjoy. Each light represents a gift from a donor to honor or remember a loved one, to express appreciation for someone, or to celebrate a special occasion. The lighting ceremony takes place on the first Thursday in December. All donors are encouraged to attend this magical moment. In addition to the lighted tree, a corresponding tree decorated with Moravian stars is placed in the main lobby of the hospital as well as in the lobby of the Heart Pavilion and the breezeway near the Parking Lot B entrance. Memorials are listed identifying donors and those honored or remembered.
Holiday Fair
Many crafters participate in this two-day fair held on the second Thursday and Friday in December. Community members have often patronized this well-known shopping extravaganza. There are many opportunities for participation. Volunteers play an active role in this delightful fundraising event. These include helping with the white elephant tables by donating, pricing, and selling items as well as setting up and cleaning up; donations of homemade baked goods; and assistance with selling. Solicitations for donations of Raffle prizes in coordination with the Raffle Chairpersons and selling Raffle tickets in the days leading up to the fair help tremendously.
