Linear Accelerator grand opening

Leila Gordon, a Trustee of the Gordon Charter Foundation, joined hospital leaders including President Katie Galbraith, Vice President of Operations Yonathan Kebede (now President of Paoli Hospital), Vice President for Patient Care Services Fran Cusick, Director of Oncology Lynne Quinn, Executive Director of Development Katie Beddis and others for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of the Linear Accelerator replacement project in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Lankenau Medical Center.

The radiation oncology team began treating patients with the new True Beam Linear Accelerator on October 15, two months ahead of schedule. This enhanced technology was made possible through a generous philanthropic gift from The Gordon Charter Foundation. This gift reflects their continued commitment to advancing cancer care at Lankenau. The Gordon Charter Foundation, led by a family with deep roots in the Philadelphia area, supports healthcare, medical research, education and other charitable causes throughout the Greater Philadelphia area.

At Lankenau, 45-55% of patients experiencing cancer undergo radiation therapy, making this technology crucial in delivering highly targeted treatment. The linear accelerator precisely targets tumors with high-energy X-rays or electrons, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.

Once again, thank you to the Gordon Charter Foundation for their generous grant toward this project. We look forward to utilizing this state-of-the-art equipment to treat patients with pinpoint precision.
